stay

Today's super groovy delicious bite will leave you hungry for more.

Maurice Williams wrote 'stay' when he was fifteen after failing to convince his date to break her curfew. Seven years later he brought a demo of the song to Herald Records. They insisted he re-recorded it without the line "let's have another smoke." Maurice and his band the Zodiacs would take it to the top of the charts this week in 1960. It is the shortest number one single ever.

The song has been covered by the Four Seasons, Jackson Brown, and Cindy Lauper; but none of them has been able to top its success. When it was included on the soundtrack for Dirty Dancing, it sold more copies than it had during its original release.

Stay
Aaaah, just a little bit longer
Please, please, please
Please, please
Tell me you're going to

Now, your daddy don't mind
And your mommy don't mind
If we have another dance, together,
Just one more
One more time

Oh, won't you
stay
Just a little bit longer
Please let me hear
You say that you will

(say you will)

Won't you press your sweet lips
To mine
Won't you say you love me
All of the time
stay

Oooh
Just a little bit longer
Please, please, please
Please, please
Tell me you're going to

Come on, come on
Come on and
stay

Come on, come on
Come on and
stay
