This Corner Club collective made its auspicious debut with this classic double-album of bittersweet Brazilian pop, folk, and psychedelia. Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges met in 1963 in Belo Horizonte in the province of Minas Gerais  and began writing songs together.  Nine years later they released 'Clube Da Esquina' with Lô Borges on vocals, guitar, viola, and percussion; Milton Nascimento on vocals, guitar, viola, and piano; Tavito on vocals, guitar, and viola; Beto Guedes on vocals and viola; Alaide Costa on vocals; Nelson Angelo on guitar, piano, surdo, and percussion; Toninho Horta on guitar, percussion,  and backing vocals; Wagner Tiso on piano, electric piano, and organ; Robertinho Silva on drums and percussion; Luís Alves on Caxixi; Paulinho Braga on Percussion; and Luiz Gonzaga on backing vocals.  Eumir Deodato and Wagner Tiso did orchestrations with Paulo Moura conducting.  The music is a rich patchwork of poetic and spiritual reflections that run from Beatlesque bossa nova to jazz and classical to wordless emotional vocalizations.  The Brazilian government threatened censorship; but  'Clube Da Esquina' won fans all over the world and is considered one of the greatest examples of Brazilian music ever released.
