In 1916, an anonymous "male quartette" made the first documented use of the term "rockin 'n' rollin" with this medley of two African-American spirituals. It was issued on Little Wonder Records and distributed by the Columbia Phonograph Company. Little Wonder made five inch phonograph records that sold for ten cents at five and dime stores, which made them more accessible to low income households. Little Wonder #339, "The Camp Meeting Jubilee" incorporates "Rockin' An' Rollin' In Your Arms" and "Who Built The Ark?" with religious dialogue and humorous banter in a skit to simulate a church camp meeting.
