Child actress Shelly Fabares had something we couldn't resist with the desperate desire of this heavenly hit. 'Johnny Angel' was written by Lyn Duddy and Lee Pockriss. The single was produced by Stu Phillips with Glen Campbell and Carol Kaye on guitar, Hal Blaine on drums, and Darlene Love & the Blossoms on background vocals. Fabares was intimidated by the professional singers and had a difficult time recording the song. The final version was spliced together from several takes. 'Johnny Angel' made its premiere on 'The Donna Reed Show', on which Fabares was one of the regular cast members. It went to number one in Canada, New Zealand, and the US, selling over one million copies. Fabares had other hits; but none of them as successful as her first single. After a few years, she gave up on her singing career to focus on acting.

Johnny Angel
You're an angel to me
Johnny Angel
How I love him
He's got something that I can't resist
But he doesn't even know that I exist
Johnny Angel
How I want him
How I tingle when he passes by
Everytime he says hello
My heart begins to fly
I'm in heaven
I get carried away
I dream of him and me
And how it's gonna be
Other fellas
Call me out for a date
But I just sit and wait, I'd rather concentrate
On Johnny Angel
'Cause I love him
And I pray that someday he'll love me
And together we will see how lovely heaven will be
I'm in heaven
I get carried away
I dream of him and me
And how it's gonna be
Other fellas
Call me out for a date
But I just sit and wait, I'd rather concentrate
On Johnny Angel
'Cause I love him
And I pray that someday he'll love me
And together we will see how lovely heaven will be
