Rodgers and Hart made every day Valentine's Day and had their most enduring success with this romantic standard. 'My Funny Valentine' was written for their musical 'Babes in Arms', which debuted on Broadway in 1937. It was the first time that Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart wrote the dialogue as well as the music and lyrics. Two years later, it was made into a movie with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. 'My Funny Valentine' has been recorded many times by more than six hundred different artists and has appeared in at least five other films.

My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet you're my favourite work of art
Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?
But don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day
Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?
But don't you change one hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day
