computer love / the model

Düsseldorf's finest prefigured online dating and had their only number one with the electronic romance of this double-A single drawn from two albums. Kraftwerk released 'Computer Love' ("Computer Liebe") as a single from their new album 'Computer World' ('Computerwelt') with The Model ("Das Model") from their previous album 'The Man-Machine' ('Die Mensch-Maschine') as the B-side, reaching number thirty-six in the UK. When British DJ's showed more interest in the B-side, the two songs were reissued as a twelve-inch double A-side that went to the top of the British charts in February of 1982. At the time, no one in the band actually owned a computer, though they recorded some of the vocals using a Texas Instruments Language Translator.

Computer love
Computer love
Another lonely night
Stare at the TV screen

I don't know what to do
I need a rendezvous
Computer love
Computer love

I call this number
For a data date
I don't know what to do
I need a rendezvous

Computer love

'The Model' ("Das Model") was written by Ralf Hütter and Karl Bartos, with assistance from Emil Schult on the lyrics.

She's a model and she's looking good
I'd like to take her home that's understood
She plays hard to get, she smiles from time to time
It only takes a camera to change her mind

She's going out tonight, loves drinking just champagne
And she has been checking nearly all the men
She's playing her game and you can hear them say
She is looking good, for beauty we will pay

She's posing for consumer products now and then
For every camera she gives the best she can
I saw her on the cover of a magazine
Now she's a big success, I want to meet her again
