you're gonna miss me

Forty five years ago, Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators helped to spark the psychedelic movement with this this bluesy one-hit wonder. After making a splash on the local scene in Austin, Texas the band recorded their first single with Gordon Bynum from Contact Records. It did very well in Texas; and was re-released by International Artists. Touring and television appearances gave them enough exposure to reach number fifty five on the national pop chart. Tommy Hall would vocalize into a ceramic jug with the microphone held up to the opening to produce an otherworldly echo effect, while the twin reverb Gibson guitar assault of Roky Erickson and Stacy Sutherland influenced a whole generation of musicians.

Oh yeah!
Ahh!
You're gonna wake up one morning as the sun greets the dawn.
You're gonna wake up one morning as the sun greets the dawn.
You're gonna look around in your mind, girl, you're gonna find that
I'm gone.
You didn't realize,
You didn't realize,
You didn't realize,
You didn't realize,
You didn't realize.
Oh! you're gonna miss me, baby.
Oh! you're gonna miss me, baby.
Oh! you're gonna miss me, child, yeah, yeah.
I gave you the warning,
But you never heeded it.
How can you say you miss my lovin,
When you never needed it?
Yeah! Yeah! Ow!
You're gonna wake up wonderin',
Find yourself all alone,
But what's gonna stop me, baby?
I'm not comin' home.
I'm not comin' home.
I'm not comin' home.
Oh, oh, oh, yeah!
