ella and louis

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong made a perfect pair with the virtuoso performances on these classic romantic jazz collaborations.  'Ella and Louis' was was the brainstorm of producer Norman Granz and recorded with engineer Val Valentin at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.  The sessions featured Fitzgerald on vocals and Armstrong on vocals and trumpet, accompanied by the Oscar Peterson Quartet: Ray Brown on bass; Herb Ellis on guitar; Oscar Peterson on piano; and Buddy Rich on drums.   Armstrong and Fitzgerald reinterpret the selection of standards in their own inimitable style to create a new standard for excellence in duets.
