Guitar prodigy Jonny Lang secured his place in the world of blues music with the yearning intensity of this mature mix of funk, rock, and soul. He had released his first album 'Smokin'' as Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang on the independent Oarfin label when he was only fourteen years old. This led to a major label deal with A&M and his next album 'Lie to Me' led to rave reviews and constant touring. Lang recalls: "I was on the road constantly, playing with musicians twice my age in places where they check your ID at the door; but it didn't matter how old I was because I was the headliner."
'Wander This World' was produced by David Z. and recorded at Seedy Underbelly Studios and Oarfin Studios in Minneapolis and the Sound Kitchen in Nashville with Jonny Lang on vocals and lead guitar; Richie Hayward on drums; David Smith on bass; Jack Holder on rhythm guitars and keyboards; Steve Cropper on guitars; Paul Diethelm on dobro on "Wander This World"; Kevin Bowe on rhythm guitar on "The Levee"; Tommy Burroughs on acoustic guitar on "Walking Away" and background vocals on "Right Back"; Bruce McCabe and Ricky Peterson on keyboards; Jimmy Davis on background vocals on "Right Back"; and Eric Leeds on saxophone on "I Am".
'Wander This World' made it to number twenty-eight on the Billboard album chart and gave Lang his first Grammy nomination. Since then, he has expanded his sound to include gospel and spiritual music; but he still plays the crowd-pleasing favorites: "I find it a little bit tough to relate to the first couple albums. When you’re playing live you get caught up in the moment and the moment is enough inspiration in and of itself to make a good performance out of it...I feel like the boundaries that are made by religion — especially in our country, as far as what kind of music you can and can’t play — are purely cultural. There’s a boundary somewhere. I’m not saying there’s not, but I certainly can’t claim to know what that boundary is definitely. I don’t know if anybody can. As far as what I do, I feel good about it."

"Wander This World" (Paul Diethelm/McCabe) – 4:49
The tar in the street starts to melt from the heat
And the sweats runnin' down from my hair
I walked 20 miles and I'm dragging my feet
And I'll walk 20 more I don't care
And the sweats runnin' down from my hair
I walked 20 miles and I'm dragging my feet
And I'll walk 20 more I don't care
And I'll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
I'm like a ghost some people can't see
Others drive by and stare
A shadow that drifts by the side of the road
It's like I'm not even there
Others drive by and stare
A shadow that drifts by the side of the road
It's like I'm not even there
And I'll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Well I've never been part of the game
The life that I live is my own
All that I know is that I was born
To wander this world all alone, all alone
The life that I live is my own
All that I know is that I was born
To wander this world all alone, all alone
Some people are born with their lives all laid out
And all their success is assured
Some people work hard all their lives for nothin'
They take it and don't say a word
They don't say a word
And all their success is assured
Some people work hard all their lives for nothin'
They take it and don't say a word
They don't say a word
Sometimes it's like I don't even exist
Even God has lost track of my soul
Why else would he leave me out here like this
To wander this world all alone
Even God has lost track of my soul
Why else would he leave me out here like this
To wander this world all alone
And I'll wander this world, wander this world
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
Wander this world, wander this world all alone
