so alone
Johnny Thunders cobbled together the collaborative chaos of his definitive solo statement from the rubble of his previous bands. His seminal work on 'New York Dolls' and 'Too Much Too Soon' and on the Heartbreakers' 'L.A.M.F.' is revisited for his star studded solo debut. After the Heartbreakers broke up during the ill-fated Anarchy Tour with the Sex Pistols and the Clash, Thunders stayed in London to produce 'So Alone' with Steve Lillywhite. The sessions featured Johnny Thunders on guitar and vocals; Paul Cook, Steve Nicol, and Mike Kellie on drums; John "Irish" Earle on saxophone; Paul Gray on bass and drums; Chrissie Hynde on vocals on "Subway Train"; Steve Jones on guitar; Koulla Kakoulli andd Patti Palladin on vocals; Steve Lillywhite on piano and keyboards, and engineering; Walter Lure and Henri Paul on guitar; Phil Lynott on bass and vocals; Steve Marriott on harmonica, piano, keyboards, and vocals on "Daddy Rollin' Stone"; Peter Perrett on guitar and vocals; and Billy Rath on bass. The songs are a mix of classic covers, originals written on his own, and reworked songs he had done with his other groups. The sound is exhilarating as the whole projects threatens to go off the rails; but somehow it holds together and reveals the desperation behind the devastation.

Johnny Thunders: You Can't Put Your Arms Around... by mrjyn
It doesn't pay to try all the smart boys know why
It doesn't mean I didn't try I'll just never know why
It isn't 'cause I'm all alone Oh, baby, you're not home
And when I'm home Big deal, I'm still alone
It's so restless, I am, Beat my head against a pole
Try to knock some sense, down 'side my bones
And even though it don't show, Those guys are so old
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
Don't try, don't try
You're just a basket case
And you got no name
Could you live with me?
Go on and say
And even though they don't show the scars aren't so old
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
You can't put your arms around a memory
Don't try, don't try
