Nick Saloman and drummer Martin Crowley released this double album of psychedelic shoegazing indie acid folk and reached their high water mark. 'New River Head' is a flood of music to get lost within; there are shimmering pop gems, crunchy rockers, and extended guitar freakouts. Apart from cameo appearances from Adrian Shaw, Dave Tibet, Bari Watts, Cyke Bancroft, and Barry Dransfield; Saloman handles everything else from singing to composing, arranging, and producing to guitar, organ, bass, and electric piano. The excellent CD reissue adds nine more tracks to the original twenty one.

'Stain On The Sun' is "a sensitive love song ... I never do love songs."

'Waving' is "a nice London folksong".

'He'd Be A Diamond' "is a jangly little pop song about how badly men treat women. It ended up being my most frequently covered number."

'It Won't Come Again' "was about how, try as some folk may, the past can never be brought back."

'God Speed You To Earth' is "a poetic attempt at coming to terms with failure and loneliness via metaphysical incarceration in a kind of intergalactic detention center."

'Blurred Vision' "features Bari Watts on guitar Hendrixiano."
